P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently seeking a Deputy Manager to join their team based in Downham Market on a full-time, permanent basis.
Role Summary:
To manage a 24-hour crisis intervention and support service to people who are experiencing a psychiatric and or psychosocial crisis but do not require a hospital admission.
To effectively lead the Short Stay Recovery House team to provide an effective range of short-term intensive interventions to reduce the experience of crisis.
Manage the assessment of referrals received by the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHT) within agreed timeframe.
Main Responsibilities:
Liaise with the manager and clinical teams (CRHT) to discuss referrals and clinical presentation of people using services, and make referral and service admission decisions based on this.
Oversee the daily running of the service ensuring it reflects psychologically informed environment (PIE) framework, is safe, efficient, effective and empowering for staff and those staying at the House.
Imbed risk management and safety planning, identifying and implementing brief, structured support and safety planning programmes for people using the service and update your manager accordingly.
Lead, supervise and appraise the Short Stay Recovery House team of staff and volunteers
Ensure fast track re-referral to CRHT for those who the organisation might consider high risk
Identify and respond to individuals who become a risk to themselves or others within a set time period by working closely with the CRHT and service manager.
Monitor progress of the service and evaluate and discuss the impact of this brief intervention with your manager using agreed KPIs with commissioners.
Introduce therapeutic tools and interventions to people using services tailored to their particular needs, including cognitive behavioural tools, mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal skills, and other coping strategies
Liaise with GPs, external agencies and community teams, making referrals as required.
Facilitate excellent assessment, care planning, programme design, teamwork and cooperation with other providers
Using the Client Management System, keep accurate assessment records for people who use our services.
Develop links and referral pathways with a range of agencies including, DWP, accommodation services, health services, police etc. Build positive relationships with clinical and internal colleagues, and external organisations.
Additional Duties:
Lead the assessment and acceptance of referrals, ensuring each case is thoroughly evaluated for risk mitigation and aligned with established service criteria to ensure safe service delivery.
Ensure that all referrals and relevant documentation are accurately uploaded in a timely manner, while keeping the team informed of updates and ensuring seamless communication across all services.
Oversee the service budget, regularly monitoring expenditure and addressing any issues or potential overspends, and report findings to the Service Manager to ensure financial accountability and alignment with organisational goals.
Provide another tier of risk prevention and response in support of established mental health services and specifically the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team. (CRHT)
Ensure that all staff have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities, are fully utilised during their shifts, and adhere to organisational policies and procedures to maintain high standards of service delivery and team effectiveness.
Manage team dynamics proactively, identifying and addressing any issues promptly and in accordance with HR processes, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
Foster a culture of reflective practice and continuous learning within the service, ensuring that mandatory staff meetings are used to share insight, discuss challenges, and promote professional development.
Promote a culture of learning within the programme through the generation and implementation of new strategies co-created and co-delivered with those who have lived experience of using secondary and acute services.
Ensure that all assurance, health and safety checks, including risk assessments, are completed thoroughly and audited regularly to maintain compliance with safety standards and proactively identify and address any potential risk.
Provide regular, objective-led supervision to the staff team, focusing on performance, developing goals, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality services in line with organisational standards.
Complete and manage the staffing rota to ensure the service is consistently and appropriately staffed, maintaining safe staffing levels and providing the necessary support to meet service needs at all times.
Actively participate in the on-call rota, providing support and guidance across the County to ensure continuous service delivery and prompt resolution of urgent issues outside of regular working hours.
Person Specification:
NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent - Desirable
Experience of leading services within a CQC framework preferred but training will be given - Desirable
Experience of working with people with complex needs who may be difficult to engage
An understanding of mental health
Understanding of psychologically informed environments as it relates to crisis support and suicide prevention - Desirable
Experience of working with people who self-harm
Experience of working with people who have a diagnosis of a personality disorder
Experience of multi-agency working
Experience of working with people who are or have been in mental health crisis in the past.
Experience of managing a team
Experience of Counselling or similar training - Desirable
Excellent knowledge of risk assessment and risk management
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Good IT and numeracy skills
Ability to provide effective advice and guidance
Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and regulations
Budget management - Desirable
Passionate about and committed to the empowerment of people who are experiencing mental distress

Mon – Fri 08:00 – 16:00
