P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently seeking a Workshop Technician – Instrument Tubing to join their team on a full-time permanent basis, based in Gorleston-on-Sea.

Job Title: Workshop Technician – Instrument Tubing

Reporting to: QHSE & Production Manager

Department you will be under: Production

Role Summary:
The Workshop Technician – Instrument Tubing is responsible for the execution of specific tasks either project related or individual manufactures, refurbishments and testing etc. as well as other tasks for which you are competent in a safe conscientious manner.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Proficient installation of instrument tubing.
• Reading and understanding schematic drawings.
• To be fully conversant with pressure testing control panels / tube work / UKOOA Standards up to 25,000psig.
• To be fully conversant with flushing of small-bore instrument tube / control panels / UKOOA standards.
• System FAT and function testing of hydraulic / pneumatic control panels and assisting supervisors with fault finding.
• Nitrogen pre-charging of bladder / piston accumulators and dampers.
• The ability to represent the correct image and profile of the company to employees, suppliers, client, and end user alike.
• Training support of apprentices and trainees in good practices, pressure testing techniques and flushing practices.
• Detailed completion of project closes out reports / documentation / certification and ensuring that said documentation is passed to the engineer, signed, dated, and identified correctly for invoicing and certification data packs.
• To be able to work under one’s own initiative or as part of a team.
• To have the ability to communicate effectively and offer sound technical advice to both internal and external clients for the company projects and operational activities.
• The ability to complete client work orders, permits, timesheets etc. correctly and to the satisfaction of the company, the client and the end user.
• To be able to complete the maintenance of hydraulic / pneumatic control systems to current UKOOA guidelines.
• Other duties within the general scope of the post and appropriate to the Job Function as may be required from time to time.

Education & Training:

Desirable:
• NVQ, HNC in Mechanical Engineering

Skills & Competencies:

Essential:
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build positive relationships, and work collaboratively, across the business.
• Good organisational skills with an ability to manage own workload and priorities to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good level of interpersonal skills.
• Resilient and calm under pressure.

General & Specialist Knowledge:

Essential:
• Good working knowledge / understanding of Hydraulic, pneumatic systems.
• Understanding and implementation of engineering specifications.

Relevant Experience:

Essential:
• Min 3 years’ experience in the mechanical/hydraulic trade.
• Knowledge of MS Office.
