P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently seeking an Operations Manager to join their team based in Great Yarmouth on a full-time, permanent basis.

The main purpose of the role will be to lead and ensure that all operational requirements are delivered as directed by the Business Unit Manager and the Director in line with Health & Safety requirements and to ensure that strategic decisions and resulting change programs relating to the role are successfully delivered and within a sustainable framework.

Responsibilities:
• To deliver consistent operational and safety excellence
• To put in place action plans to address areas where service is below expected standards
• To put in place SLAs with customers which are appropriate to the services provided
• Develop robust operations analysis including KPI reporting
• Monitor and control all legal and statutory operating requirements
• To follow the group’s Incident Reporting Protocol
• To be responsible for the safe working environment of the Operations team and to celebrate safe working behaviours and to correct unsafe behaviours
• To lead by example through carrying out behavioural safety tours
• To meet or exceed the budgeted EBITDA of the Operations Department in each financial year
• To review the financial performance of the Operations department on a regular basis, but at least monthly, in order to identify variances against budgets or forecasts and implement management interventions
• Through interventions, ensure that revenue and costs are optimised and consistent with achieving expected levels of business performance
• To produce mid-monthly forecasts of financial performance, quarterly full-year forecasts and annual budgets
• To take ownership of the contractual and business relationship with customers such that commercial and operational matters are handled satisfactorily
• To direct and work closely with Sales and BD resources to deliver Revenue and EBITDA targets
• To ensure that the activities of the Operations Department are consistent with the company commercial policy
• To ensure that controls are in place for the complete and accurate billing and collection of revenue
• To provide accurate information to the Business Unit Manager for use at the monthly Commercial Review Board meeting to discuss business unit performance in line with the agenda set by the Director
• Liaise with the Engineering team to ensure that the civil and mechanical asset required by the Operations Department remain fit for purpose
• Where new or replacement assets are required, to submit and follow up to approval Capital Expenditure Proposals in line with group policies and procedures
• To lead the Operations Team and any seconded staff as and when required
• To work with Group and functional support areas (such as H&S, sales, group business development, finance, engineering, HR, IT and other such departments) in order to deliver business performance objectives
• Carry out staff appraisals and disciplinary procedures in line with Group HR policy and ensure that other Group HR policies are complied with by the Operations Department
• To undertake the role of Operations Supervisor, when required, to ensure the continual successful delivery of operations

Experience:
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar or supporting role
• Experience in delivering major change/project initiatives
• Experience in delivering improved H&S compliance and risk mitigation through SMART objectives
• Experience in delivering improved productivity and financial performance improvements through smarter ways of working or operational solutions

Qualifications:
• A degree or equivalent relevant experience in a qualification that relates to the role
• IOSH managing safely
• UK driving licence
