P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently seeking a group purchasing manager to join their team on a full-time permanent basis, based in Carlisle.
Job Title: Buyer
Reporting to: Commercial Director
Contact: Senior Leadership Team, managers, all colleagues, third parties.
Purpose of the role:
To co-ordinate all of the company’s buying activities – materials, equipment and business supplies. Working closely with the commercial and management teams to maximise value and profitability. Supporting the business to operate efficiently.

Main Duties:
• Purchasing of materials/supplies
• Co-ordinating plant hire
• Controlling ordering/spending
• Understanding and delivering buying strategy
• Understanding the supply market
• Service level agreements
• Maintaining/negotiating supplier contracts
• Reviewing/changing suppliers to secure best value/maximise discounts
• Monitoring/investigating new products and suppliers
• Monitoring purchases against project budgets
• Monitor material usage and spend, against job set-up and allocation
• Involvement with tenders/contract reviews
• Responsibility for business supplies – stationery, office equipment, IT equipment, fleet etc
• Undertaking procurement related projects
• Maintain approved supplier database
• Reporting
• Meeting attendance
