P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently seeking an Inspector to join their team based in Norwich on a full-time, permanent basis.

Role Summary:

The role of quality control inspector is to ensure that all products meet the quality requirements of the customer and the organisation. This position reports directly to the Chief Inspector. As a hands-on mechanical inspector, you will be responsible for executing general inspection functions both visual and dimensional, including correctly and properly using mechanical measuring devices and reporting results.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform complete inspections to engineering drawings.
  • Conduct measurements such as length, height and distance, using precision instruments such as micrometres, vernier callipers, dial test indicators, Faro arm and coordinate measuring machine.
  • Locate datums on parts and measure dimensions such as angle, arc and radii using a combination of aids such as parallel bars, gauge blocks, v blocks, sine bars and precision measuring instruments such as a digital height gauge.
  • Visually compare work pieces against one another to assess in process manufacturing variations.
  • Report quality problems or findings to the chief inspector and follow up to ensure corrective action has been put in place.
  • Interact with different departments to ensure compliance with specification and to facilitate acceptance of parts.
  • Inspect surface coatings such as anodising, phosphate and paint to specifications.
  • Check commercial off the shelf items conform to specifications required and the relevant documentation has been received.
  • Working within a strict time and quality framework.
  • Any other such duties that may be reasonably compatible with the nature and scope of the role.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites both in the UK and rest of the World with some unsocial working hours may be required.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Qualification in mechanical engineering.
  • Previous experience in a quality/inspection role.
  • Good working knowledge of engineering drawings including GD&T.
  • A willingness to learn and develop.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • A positive ‘can do’ approach.
  • Good computer and communication skills.
  • The ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight schedules.
  • Full Driving Licence to drive in the UK and abroad.
  • Valid passport with no travel restrictions.
