Agency Workers Directive

The Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) have completed their passage through Parliament and will come into force on 1 October 2011.
The main purpose of the AWR is to give temporary agency workers parity in pay and employment conditions with what they would have been entitled to had they been hired directly into the same job.
Under the AWR 'parity' relates only to basic working and employment conditions of temporary agency workers (eg pay, overtime and shift allowances) and does not extend to sick pay and participation in pension schemes.
The AWR does not affect the employment status of temporary agency workers and therefore the AWR does not give the workers rights to claim unfair dismissal or redundancy pay.
This is a major piece of legislation and affects all agency workers, agencies and clients.

After a great deal of searching P&S Personnel have finally launched their industrial division today – Wednesday, 7 July 2010 - with Mark Dolman holding a regional role for the company based within our current locations of Great Yarmouth and Thetford.
Mark has worked within the recruitment industry for over 6 years and always been within the Industrial Sector, dealing with many leading and prestigious clients.

World Cup Fever hits P&S!

World Cup Fever hits P&S Personnel with Sharon O'Mahony our Sales & Marketing Director getting into the spirit of things for England's first match against the USA on Saturday, 12 June 2010.
The opening game of the World Cup is played today at 3pm between the host country South Africa and Mexico.
England matches are:

Herbie's

P&S Personnel is delighted to be working with Herbies. This is a multi-agency partnership initiative, aimed at providing an all encompassing support service, to assist people with issues around homelessness, drug and alcohol misuse, benefits and health. Through close cooperation with Norfolk Constabulary, Comeunity made contact with the Salvation Army and the drop-in was launched in early January 2010. The project runs three days per week and provides basic life necessities and support services. Also a range of agencies are available to provide staff on a weekly basis to provide the support services on site in a friendly accessible venue. Partners signed up to the project included Comeunity, Salvation Army, Norfolk Constabulary, NORCAS, Greyfriars Clinic, Voluntary Norfolk, GYBCs Homelessness Prevention Team, DIAL, MIND and GYROS. The project was dubbed Herbies, named after a well known street drinker who died on the streets of South Yarmouth during the Christmas period in 2009. This name signifies all the agencies commitment to a partnership approach through which future cases like Herbie would be prevented. A key achievement of the project is that it has been developed as a true partnership approach, with no funding officially attached to it. The project has developed at an immense rate and by mid April 2010, 436 contacts had already been made with Herbies (footfall), which translated into 122 different people accessing the services. Many users have already benefitted greatly from the advice and support available, and have started taking up training, drug and alcohol support, health services, volunteering opportunities and benefits advice.

P&S Training Academy

We can't believe its nearly one year since we launched our Training Academy in our new offices based at the Eurocentre.
Today the 22 seater boardroom is used daily by local businesses utilising the facilities and also by ourselves offering bespoke management training for our clients which include Motivational and Leadership Skills, Time Management, HR and many other leading courses all designed and produced by leading trainers and delivered at a very cost effective price.
