Description :
Our client is seeking to recruit to the position of Day Centre Manager for maternity leave cover. Responsible for all day care staff currently based at two sites and.to ensure that a safe, caring and stimulating learning environment is provided for the children in each day care setting.
The purpose of this post is to manage the day care provision and to be responsible for all matters of administration, organisation and day to day running of the settings ensuring high quality provision and the well-being of the children.
Duties
- To advise management on issues regarding the development of day care provision and to manage and maintain the settings on a daily basis.
- To keep abreast of and ensure compliance with legislation, policy and procedures, local and national frameworks which affect the running of the settings with particular reference to Every Child Matters and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- To ensure responsibilities with respect to Safeguarding Children legislation, are implemented.
- To research, develop, monitor and evaluate policies and procedures that assist in the effective running of the settings.
- To ensure effective communication and partnership links with parents/carers/other relevant agencies.
- To make recommendations to the Line Manager on the purchase of resources and to ensure that they are effectively used and maintained at all times.
- To provide management information and reports and advise on fees and budget requirements to the line manager.
- To manage an annual budget for both settings.
- To ensure that the settings promote equality and diversity and to challenge any incidents of discrimination or prejudice.
- To manage the waiting lists and ensure optimum usage of the settings.
- To ensure that the medical welfare of the children in the settings is met and contact is made with the relevant health professionals when necessary.
- To advise the Line Manager on matters of recruitment and training of staff.
- To carry out Performance Development Reviews with all staff.
- To ensure confidentiality is maintained within the settings at all times.
- To ensure that Health & Safety requirements are met.
- To carry out any other duties commensurate with the level of the post as required.

Experience
- Experience of working with young children in a childcare environment
- Experience of managing in a childcare environment
Qualifications
- To have at least a level 5/6 qualification in Childcare, Learning and Development or equivalent.
- Evidence of continual personal development
- Driving Licence and provision of own transport
- A current valid CRB check
