Description :
Our client is seeking to recruit to the position of Technical Estimator based at their offices in Wymondham to provide technical specifications expertise, to liaise with architects, quantity surveyors, specifiers and builders in the interpretation and quoting of work from technical drawings or according to customer specifications. Additionally to manage and continually review the operation of the quotations and order processing function, and ensure that quotations are costed effectively and received by customers in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Conducting site visits to identify any specific site characteristics or risks.
- Attending design team meetings and contributing to the design development process.
- Presenting tenders to senior management, highlighting any major commercial issues.
- Submitting tenders, and negotiating pricing structures with customers.
- Establish processes and procedures to ensure reliable and robust job costings are generated.
- Define process to accurately predict the margin of a job at the quotation stage.
- To ensure the accuracy and quality of information produced by job processing for production, procurement, inventory and management accounting.
- Review and develop faster methods of generating job quotations.
- Liaise with customers to discuss future order load and establish forecast data.
- Provide technical support to the production facility.
- Provide customer support.
- Ensure procedures and processes in place to minimise problems experienced when using new profiles, new tooling or new systems.
- Implementation of new business systems.
- Develop a job scheduling system to more accurately forecast realistic delivery dates.
- Develop the use of standard labour minutes, refining minutes through measurement and observation.
- Ensure that all agreed SLAs for the processing area are met.
- Any other duties of a similar level as requested by your line manager.
Technical/Professional Competencies
- Should have sound technical and commercial abilities including strong numerical, presentation and risk awareness skills.
- Ability to hold technical discussions with architects, quantity surveyors and specifiers.
- Excellence and attention to detail for reading drawings, takes offs and quantities.
- The ability to work as a team member and with autonomy is essential, along with a creative and innovative approach to problem solving.
- You should hold a relevant degree or HND and be competent in the use of Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Outlook) and specialist estimating software.
- Fully competent in dealing with tender preparation and negotiations.
Experience
- Quantity Surveyor background..
- Manufacturing background an advantage.
- Familiarity with WindowMaker or other quoting software is desirable.
