Our client is seeking an Analytical Design Engineer based at their premises based in Great Yarmouth.
The candidate will be responsible to the Design Team Leader for provision of engineering service and expertise to both internal and external clients. This will involve design, calculations, FEA and drawings.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Create designs in support of the company’s projects
- Provide design verification services (FEA, hand calculations) in support of the company’s projects and products
- Create drawings for manufacture, client review, quotation, in-house marketing, etc as required
You will also have the following responsibilities:
- Create designs in 3D including detailed models and drawings in support of the company’s projects and products, using Solidworks software
- Perform hand calculations and FEA to create and verify equipment design
- Check and approve calculations/FEA produced by other members of the team
- Control of the design aspects of projects in association with the Project Engineer.
- Provide design-related input into kick-off, design review, project planning and other meetings
- Control the design process and ensure all necessary requirements have been met in line with the IMS
- Provide details of inspection requirements of designs
- Support design and commissioning activities on and offshore
- Maintain electronic media and hardware in an appropriate manner
- Check drawings produced by other members of the team, prior to approval
- Modify designs, documents and drawings in accordance with company procedures
- Highlight and resolve any design issues following analysis
- Control and document Design Review meetings
Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
- Mechanical Engineering degree or HNC/HND in mechanical engineering
- Minimum 3 years experience in mechanical engineering environment including working to designated standards and material selection
- Expert in the preparation and reporting of FEA, ideally using Ansys software
- Expert in creating and using hand calculations to verify designs by using Mathcad
- Experienced in modelling and drafting in 3D, ideally using Solidworks
- Familiar with Autocad 2D drafting
- Computer literate using MS products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows, Powerpoint)
- Familiar with the principles of design and project control
- Good Communication skills
- Flexible in attitude
- Able to work to tight deadlines and to budget
